I purchased this leather hand guard for use on a 28ga w/ a splinter forend. I found that wearing a full fingered leather or cotton glove to protect against the hot barrels was a little too bulky. And after about 10 consecutive shots the gun was too hot to hold comfortably. Definitely contributing to my loss of concentration as the match progressed. This guard solved the problem wonderfully. It does warm up but so much as to make it uncomfortable.
